since January 2017. He holds a Ph.D. from BHU and has made
significant contributions to the fields of tribology and
mechanical engineering. His areas of expertise include bearing
lubrication, tribological elements design, engine tribology, and
lubrication in metal forming. Dr. Pandey has authored several
impactful publications on topics such as tribo-dynamic behaviors
of ball bearings, frictional performance of micro-textured
bearings, and the tribological performance of polymer composites
with solid lubricants. His work is particularly recognized for its
experimental investigations and innovative approaches to improving
lubrication and tribological systems. His research has been
published in leading journals, including Tribology International,
Lubrication Science, and the ASME Journal of Tribology.
Dr. Rakesh Sehgal

Dr. Rakesh Sehgal is a highly accomplished academic and
administrator with a distinguished career spanning 36 years in the
fields of mechanical engineering, teaching, research, and
institutional leadership. He completed his B.E. in Mechanical
Engineering with distinction in 1985, followed by an M.Tech. in
Design of Mechanical Equipment from IIT Delhi in 1991, and earned
a Ph.D. in Tribology in 2001 from IIT Delhi and Kurukshetra
University. He further completed a Post-Doctorate under the UGC
Fellowship Award from 2009 to 2011. Dr. Sehgal has supervised 15
Ph.D. scholars and is currently guiding 5 more. He has published
170 research papers in national and international journals and
successfully completed six externally sponsored research projects
worth ₹76.10 lakhs. He is presently involved in two international
DST-sponsored projects with Uzbekistan and Russia, amounting to
₹1.30 crores, as well as a DST FIST project worth ₹1.02 crores. In
addition to his research and academic contributions, Dr. Sehgal
has made significant advancements in institutional development. As
Director-cum-Principal from 2014-2017, he played a pivotal role in
establishing the largest government engineering college in
Himachal Pradesh. During his tenure as Director of NIT Srinagar
from 2017-2023, he oversaw remarkable improvements, reflected in
the institute’s NIRF rankings, faculty recruitment, campus
placements, and infrastructure. He has also organized numerous
conferences, delivered over 50 invited talks, and visited 11
countries for research and professional engagements. Recognized
for his teaching excellence, Dr. Sehgal received the Best Teacher
Award in 2006-07, and his leadership continues to leave a lasting
impact on academic institutions and research in India.
Dr. Jacqueline Bridge
